... I haven't done anything with paper mache in class, but I believe I have had an experience with it recently. Oddly, I can't recall the exact circumstances of the situation.

You're the one who patiently told me how to experience the lack of color without me being able to see it. I think blue is back so that should at least be of some help to you.

Yes, I have been working on a piece utilising all of the blues I have been missing for the past couple of months. It's quite exciting.

I...don't suppose you'd still be interested in creating paper mache at all?

I still technically haven't done any for many years. It would be an interesting new medium to explore.

Do you have a place on campus where you practice art or a studio of some kind?

I'm usually at the art rooms at the college, when I'm not working. They have an extensive array of art supplies to use.

Would you mind helping me create something out of paper mache? Perhaps I could turn it into some kind of Christmas gift for my roommate and friend.

What would you like to make for them?

Perhaps some kind of bowl with a raised design on the outside. It could hold candy or various things on our kitchen table.

I see. On its own it might not be the most structurally sound, though. Or perhaps a little... haphazard, without some reinforcement and finalising of the design to neaten it up.

I believe there's something you can mix with the glue that gives it a smooth and shiny appearance - people use them when making their own masks? That may suffice, although if you are planning a fruit bowl I don't know if it can be ingested, if any transfers onto food.

Ah, all right. Perhaps not a fruit bowl as much as maybe a bowl to put various things and keys in.

Splendid. When do you think you have time available for such a project?

That sound be doable, yes.

Hmm. I have a piece to finish and a commission to work on, but this is something that could easily be done in free time inbetween. The time will be extended by the drying period, from what I remember.

That sounds more than fair. I haven't been able to really get involved in art for a long time, so I'm looking forward to this project.

You mentioned you are a musician when I have spoken with you before? Unless I am remembering incorrectly.

No, that would be correct. I play the harp and piano when I'm not working on my master's degree in physics.

So, you have been working on other kinds of art then. Instead of the more traditional paint to canvas kind.

When put that way, yes I have been. I have heard that sometimes artists use music for interactive displays. I suppose that's the closest I'll get to painting.

A lot of people paint to music as well. As in, literally paint the music - allowing the music to guide their brush, not visuals or inspiration that has been brewed and grown over time.

Oh? I hadn't realized that was actually a thing.

I suppose if you were also game for that in the future, we could certainly arrange something to see how you may be artistically inspired.
