[And sending it over! It's... it's a comic, of all things? Huh. And the star of the show is a little egg named Jimmy (you can tell because the word JIMMY is written over him in big orange letters) with a faint crack down the top of its head. Rest assured, Sanji's drawing skills are as poor as he warned: the egg's shape is more a wobble, and though Sanji cared enough to put in facial expressions, it's... it's stick-figure levels of shameful.
But anyway, the comic! It's made of six panels.
Panel one: Jimmy is alone, looking around, a squiggly hand covering his mouth. There's some grass and shit around him, or... something. The fuck is that background?
Panel two: Jimmy is walking through the not!grass. Two squiggly hands on his mouth now! He looks worried? Or he's trying his best to have any sort of expression.
Panel three: Jimmy starts crying. Huge crocodile tears arching in the air from his eyes. Sanji's given up on the backgrounds.
Panel four: Oh no, there are other eggs around! Three huge eggs with muscles and aggressively drawn eyebrows. They crowd around Jimmy, who is still crying,
Panel five: It's... all black. Sanji took a crayon and went to town. Gold star for atmosphere (?)
Panel six: Oh look, Jimmy is back! \8D/ Looking so proud of himself as he stands on the cracked, broken bodies of his enemies, yolk and bits of egg floating around like the grim reminders of human fragility. Hands in the air, Jimmy, you're a super star!
If you are going to commit to a piece of art, you must give it one hundred per cent of your effort and devotion and try to produce something that you truly say you've put all your energy and passion into. Something that reflects you, and that you are proud of.
Why bother at all, in that case? The background is just as important as the foreground and focal characters for building atmosphere and this is especially so if you are telling a story.
This would perhaps work as a sketch plan, or a first draft, but would require more time and fleshing out to be a final piece.
At least you were able to experience some of the positive effects art can have on you.
And perhaps you should - the more you draw a character or concept, the easier and more natural it becomes. Give it time and you may even be able to work on backgrounds and smaller details not just... the egg.
and hey now! i'm keeping the egg, it's a decent metaphor for the fragility of human life and Jimmy's unstable psyche, emphasized by that crack on his head
the audience'll go in with the assumption he's the weakest based on his size and appearance, only to have that assumption subverted when he keeps winning, and the cut to black puts the control in their imagination to figure out how Jimmy wins his fights
You took the time to draw it. I'm hardly going to dissuade you from a potential interest in the arts by ignoring your first forays into it. That's only good for crushing interest before it can even take root.
