The skill is there. Not a gift he asked for but one he still received, and he can't pretend he doesn't feel the drive to test his abilities. It's that part of his soul which is more him than pirate, the piece that refuses to do anything by halves when he's willing to put in the effort.
But that's still different from a "want". How long has it been since he craved something for himself? He doesn't know, he stopped counting the days. It seems weird to start again.]
Mm, we'll see.
[he rouses himself with a shrug, decides he's gonna take it a day at a time, like always.] I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
[ Art is adaptable, and he's spent a long, long portion of his life limited to typical "art" - paints and pencils, digital sketching and colouring - as the extent of what he viewed as art. The expansion of that over the past few months, and allowing himself to experience it all through other people's eyes... that's exciting. Letting himself indulge in fashion as an art; learning about photography from hearing others talk about it. And now even what a person could do with food -- that in and of itself speaks of creativity to him.
If given the same ingredients, what would two different people make? How would their final products differ? It's the same with art - paints and pencils, or fashion and fabrics. The breadth of what different people can create with the same basic tools.
It's exciting. It's what keeps him so hooked to art, and will keep him hooked for the rest of his life. He hopes.
It'd be nice, to help other people find that excitement and spark for something. ]
[A light shrug, and he knows he shouldn't care -- Yusuke has given him permission not to. But too bad, it's one of those areas where the fine print means everything to him.
He's not comfortable feeling he owes someone.]
Took time and effort, sorta like cooking. Just think of it as a shitty trade.
[It's once Yusuke buys into Sanji's subtle demand that he finally relaxes (hadn't realized he'd been getting tense). He'll even let that "look atchu creating shit" comment slide.]
I'd throw in the recipe for the chicken... [an amused tilt in his voice] But you're just gonna forget to make it if I leave it here.
What, you couldn't tell by now? I like to hear myself talk.
[That is such a bullshit answer to go along with his bullshit attitude, but too late, Sanji's enjoying himself again. Why must this always be the product?]
Don't be so sore. It's not that difficult to make, y'know -- I could show you.
[Maybe if he just teaches Yusuke the recipe, his chances of feeding himself will increase?]
[That might've been the wrong answer because Sanji drops all hints of teasing and swivels his attention on him proper, like the poor bastard just painted a neon sign on his forehead]

Sanji could get used to reactions like this.

Fine, I still owe ya anyway.

...? You do?

[Said with a goodnatured grin because Sanji thought that was obvious. No point in hiding it when everyone's on the same page... right...]

If I hadn't wanted to draw it, I wouldn't have. Please don't feel like you owe me an obligation because of it.

But the food is a nice bonus.

[ He's fairly insistent about this, isn't he? ]
Very well, then consider it even. We both created something that took time and effort for the other.

I'm well aware of my flaws, thank you.

Oi, c'mon, Monsieur~
What's the point in getting angry if I'm right?
[This might be the adult equivalent to poking children on the playground for shits and giggles.]

Why make the observation in the first place if you know the answer?

Whatever was easy to cook in batch at a reasonable cost. But sometimes Japanese dishes, if I could. It depended.
WHOOPS how did I miss this
