It's an unfortunate habit of memory. It fades, whether we wish it to or not.

For what it's worth, I'm pleased that you'll not have to face that fate. Blue's a lovely color. Stunning, under the right circumstances.

[ Nothing proves that more than this place. Whatever the memories they get are, either a past or parallel life, they are things that have been forgotten somewhere along the line. As unsettling as they may be, they're still important for that reason alone. ]

Blue is always present. You don't realise just how often you see it until it is absent.
I look forward to seeing the actual sky and sea return to the colours they were orginally. But for the moment, this is a wonderful start.

A picture drawn wholly in blue would not be unique, but feels like a true tribute to the shade after it had been lost for so long...

A horizon line would work, certainly. But it would be nice to adapt an image into blue as well, like say... a forest done in shades of blue. Or a collection of bright blue flowers.

And what would be the circumstances leading to a forest of blue? Or does that not matter when it is simply another way of looking at the scene...?

I doubt Dali actually saw melting clocks before he chose to make them the focal point of The Persistence of Memory.

Very true. But his inspiration drew from somewhere.

What would you be trying to evoke with this image?

Honestly? I'm inspired by the fact blue is available for use again.

And painting something not ordinarily blue in that shade would be an interesting challenge.

[maybe seeing the final product will make his plans to make blue the star of a piece in a different way that just focusing on the ocean...]

Hopefully by the time I am called on to provide coursework, all this inspiration will have provided me with an abundance of choice.

Who knows. I have had some papers and sketchwork but I suspect a completely mixed medium piece may be required for my end of term piece.

That could be a while.
But I will let you know when the painting is done, if you feel seeing it outside of an art exhibition will not hamper your enjoyment.
